UN Women Grant Awarded to �鶹��ý Washington College of Law's Gender and International Law Project

�鶹��ý Washington College of Law Launches Syrian Initiative to Combat Sexual and Gender-Based Violence in Syria

The Syrian Initiative to Combat Sexual and Gender-Based Violence is a partnership between local Syrian civil society organizations and �鶹��ý Washington College of Law that aims to fight impunity and eliminate SGBV in Syria. Acknowledging the complexity of SGBV and being aware of its cultural sensitivity, the initiative is designed as an interdisciplinary programmatic plan to address the root causes of SGBV in Syria. Its plan primarily focuses on fighting the negative societal attitudes towards SGBV survivors that keep them confined to a cage of fear, unable to report the despicable crimes perpetrated against them.

In celebration of its Volumes 8 and 9 all-female editorial boards, the �鶹��ý Business Law Review, proudly presents the first annual Women in Business Law Leadership Conference on May 7, 2019. The event will feature Kara Stein, former SEC Commissioner, as well as panels on legal transformation and future scholarship.

Professor Brenda Smith, Director of the Project on Addressing Prison Rape and former Commissioner of the National Prison Rape Elimination Commission (NPREC), along with the six other former members of the NPREC, wrote an open letter to the Bureau of Prisons (BOP) in response to the Trump Administration’s reversal of Obama Administration prison policies to protect transgender inmates.
