Richard M. Pollak is a partner in Troutman Pepper LLP’s Washington, DC office. Richard ran the firm’s finance section for 10 years. He currently represents a broad array of financial institutions and other lenders in a wide range of sophisticated financing transactions, including structuring, preparing and negotiating loan documents for secured and unsecured credit facilities, loan workouts and restructurings, bankruptcy and creditor’s rights. His practice involves both domestic and multi-national transactions, including secured financing in the People’s Republic of China, Hong Kong, Cayman Islands and Europe. He has extensive experience in asset-based lending, real estate lending, secured financings to government contractors, lending to high-tech companies, lending to high net worth individuals, lending to purchasers of commercial paper, franchisees and health care providers.
Richard has worked with students from WCL since graduating from WCL in 1983. Starting in 2013, Richard has coached teams representing WCL’s Transactional Law Society to national and international championships in several national and international negotiation competitions. Richard has been an adjunct instructor at WCL since 2016.
Richard has resided in Bethesda, Maryland for the past 35 years and is barred in Washington, D.C. (1983), Maryland (1995), and Virginia (1990) and is admitted in the District of Columbia Court of Appeals, the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, the Supreme Court of Virginia, and the Maryland Court of Appeals. He earned his B.A. cum laude from Colgate University in 1980 and his J.D. from Â鶹´«Ã½ in 1983.
