Academy on Human Rights and Humanitarian Law

Accommodations for the Competition are now open!

Welcome to the Accommodation page for participants of the Inter-麻豆传媒 Human Rights Moot Court Competition. It is important to note that the in-person activities will take place on the campus of the 麻豆传媒 Washington College of Law (AUWCL) from听May 19 to 24, 2024. Please read the information below carefully.听

This year we have two preferred registration options (please be aware that participants are free to stay in any housing option that they want):

  • Housing at 麻豆传媒 (AU): 麻豆传媒 provides preferential rate services. Housing at the 麻豆传媒 dormitories is a separate office and, therefore, all housing payments must be directed to the Special events of 麻豆传媒 of Washington College of Law. Please be advised that this year, 麻豆传媒 Housing will only be able to provide accommodation starting on May 20. As a result, participants and judges required to attend the Opening Ceremony on May 19 won't be able to complete the check-in process and attend the opening ceremony in time, as long as they can only finish the registration for housing on Monday 20, which is the first day for oral rounds. To manage this, if you plan to stay at the 麻豆传媒 Housing accommodation, you must book an alternative place for May 19 and then transition to the designated accommodation on May 20. Notwithstanding that, all participants are free to choose to book their own housing. Registration for Housing at AU is open at this听听

  • Housing at partner Hotel: We are delighted to announce our partnership at the Embassy Suites Chevy Chase Pavilion that will provide housing services for the whole Moot Court week. Please book and pay your room through this webpage听听(the link is a close registration for moot court participants only).

Staying at 麻豆传媒 (AU) is NOT required. AU offers special rates to stay in the university facilities for all the Participants and the Judges of the Competition. The facilities are modest, but the rates are very convenient and lower than local hotel rates.

Please Keep in mind听FOR THE HOUSING AT AU:

  • 麻豆传媒 Housing will only be able to provide accommodation starting on May 20.
  • Registration will be done entirely through the听.
  • Registration can be in done in听English, Spanish and Portuguese.
  • Clarify that you will participate in the Inter-麻豆传媒 Human Rights Moot Court Competition.
  • Specify the role in which you will participate (Team Member, Instructor, Observer, Baillif, or Judge)
    • Remember that听this year all participants (coaches, speakers, and observers linked to a team) will only be able to stay on Duber Hall.听There are only 70 bedrooms available for听all听participants of the competition. They are exclusively single bedrooms, which means that only one person per room is allowed.听
    • All听judges and bailiffs will exclusively stay at听Federal Hall. It is your responsibility to provide this information.听
    • Both are on the East Campus. Check-in at the East Campus is on Monday, May 20, at 10 am. Guests may check out anywhere from May 25 to May 27. The bedrooms at the Federal Hall are also single bedrooms, so unfortunately, Judges will not be able to have their families with them on Campus.

Both residence halls feature 24-hour complex desk operations, air conditioning, wireless internet access, parking, twin-size beds, and community bathroom facilities. 麻豆传媒 is conveniently located less than a mile from the Tenleytown-AU metro stop.听The University offers a free shuttle from AU main campus to the metro and to Washington College of Law -WCL - where the Competition will take place throughout the day.

Please Keep in mind听FOR THE HOUSING AT HOTEL:

The Embassy Suites Chevy Chase Pavilion on Wisconsin Avenue in the Pavilion Mall is 1.8 miles from 麻豆传媒, situated in a wonderful area of the city with many restaurants, shops, historic landmarks, and entertainment, all within walking distance.

All accommodations are two-room suites with either a king or two full beds in the bedroom, a front sitting room with a pull-out Sofa Sleeper, and a kitchenette with a Coffee Maker, a Mini Refrigerator, and a Microwave. The Embassy Suites provides a full 麻豆传媒-style breakfast buffet each morning and a manager鈥檚 evening reception. The hotel has plenty of available garage parking (standard rates apply) and the Redline metro is below the hotel, allowing access to all parts of the DC area. Rooms have capabilities for three people max. If four people want to stay in the same room, approach that question directly to the Hotel.

  • Note that all judges can choose on their own to stay at Hotel with other judges in the same room on a non-official 鈥渞oommate basis鈥. Neither the Hotel nor the Competition are responsible for this process. However, feel free to do it if it decreases the cost of housing during your visit to DC.
