Resources for Faculty

What areas of CLEAR can I reserve for class meetings?

CLEAR has the following functional spaces to meet your instructional needs:

  • B-12: Multimedia Classroom: Mac desktop, LED 4K Smart-TV
  • B-10b: Small Classroom: Mac laptop, Sharp LCD TV
  • Training/testing Stations: PC Laptops for independent or group work

How do I make reservations or request Resources?

CLEAR is available for class meetings on a scheduled basis. You can schedule a time for your class to meet in CLEAR by calling the CLEAR Operations desk at x2357. You will need to provide the following information: name, WLC telephone extension and/or e-mail address (indicate which is better for contact), your course number, the number of students in the class, and whether you will need assistance during the class. The CLEAR staff will select the appropriate space for the services that your class will be using. When there are conflicts for requested times, you will be contacted by a manager or supervisor.

Can my classes meet in the Center without me?

CLEAR resources are available for independent student work on a walk-in basis with priority given to scheduled classes. You may schedule a class meeting at CLEAR, however, you must accompany your class since CLEAR does not have staff to supervise or conduct your class.

Can my students spell check in languages other than English?

CLEAR provides spell checking capability in most languages taught by the department. In some languages, grammar check is available.

Does CLEAR provide support services to faculty?

CLEAR provides some services to faculty to support classes. Current course texts and ancillaries are on reserve at the circulation desk.

Does CLEAR provide support integrating technology into courses?

CLEAR's Technology Curriculum Standardization Committee, chaired by the CLEAR director, has the responsibility of incorporating technology-enhanced methodologies into our language teaching. If you have a specific requirement, or wish to integrate a particular computer-assisted component into your teaching, contact the CLEAR director.

Can I borrow equipment or materials?

Currently, CLEAR allows faculty to borrow the media that accompany current course texts. Films from the CLEAR collection may be borrowed by faculty as long as they are not on reserve for class use. Faculty may not borrow software or texts which are on reserve for CLEAR use only.

Software and Materials Requests

If you have a specific requirement or would like to request a software review copy please contact the CLEAR supervisor at ext. 2357.
