Entering First-Year Students
Complete the following steps to be considered for the JDMBA dual degree:
- On the law school application, select the Full-time Division and then the JDMBA degree objective.
- Submit to Kogod School of Business (Kogod) the MBA online application form which includes a statement of purpose, and resume.ÌýIn lieu of a GMAT/GRE test score, please share details of your academic readiness for the quantitative rigor of a graduate business program.ÌýIn your essay, consider sharing your success in your degree coursework, work experience, certifications etc. Suggested length 500-750 words.
- Email Washington College of Law (WCL)’s Office of Admissions at wclresponse@wcl.american.edu to confirm submission of MBA application. Then WCL will upload a copy of the JD application materials (including transcripts; LSAT or GRE score; and letters of recommendation) to Kogod for review and consideration.
- Applicants selected for an interview by Kogod will receive an interview invitation via email. WCL does not offer evaluative interviews as part of its admissions process.
Applicants must first be admitted by WCL for the JD program in order to be consider by the Kogod for the dual degree. If you are admitted by WCL, and have followed the above steps, you will receive a separate decision from Kogod regarding the MBA portion of the dual degree program.
Current Degree-Seeking JD Students
Students currently enrolled in the JD program at the Washington College of Law (WCL) are encouraged to apply for admission to the full-time MBA program during the first year of study (1L) in the JD program and must apply no later than the end of their second year of study (2L) in the JD program. Students beginning their third year of study (3L) in the JD program are not eligible to apply for admission to the JD/MBA as the MBA immersion year must be completed prior to the 3L year in law school.
If you are currently in your first year of study (1L) year, your intended term for MBA immersion may be consistent with your term of application or may be for the following year. If you are currently in your second year of study (2L) year, your intended term for MBA immersion will be consistent with your term of application.
